The internationally renowned Irish pianist, Isabelle O’Connell, is the newest addition to the artist roster of Invented.
Invented is a creative consultancy with a focus on strategic representation of artists. Established in 2012, Invented has grown its remit to include internationally focused artists such as Cora Venus Lunny, Nick Roth, Francesco Turrisi and Kate Ellis. Invented also works with composers, including George Higgs, and younger artists, including Michelle O’Rourke. We are delighted to welcome on board such an exceptional talent as Isabelle O’Connell and look forward to working with her on the development of her Irish based projects.
Whilst living in New York over the last number of years, Isabelle has established herself as an important player on the contemporary music scene. The New Yorker described her as “the young Irish piano phenom”, upon the release of her debut solo CD entitled Reservoir in 2010. Since then she has performed as soloist at Lincoln Center, the Baryshnikov Arts Center, Princeton University and the Cleveland Museum of Art.
Last year she co-founded Grand Band: a six-piano ensemble featuring “six of the finest, busiest pianists active in New York’s contemporary classical music scene” – New York Times. They debuted at the Bang on a Can Marathon, performing a rousing rendition of Steve Reich’s Music for Six Pianos. In a subsequent NYC concert at Le Poisson Rouge, the New York Times described the group as “the Traveling Wilburys of the city’s new-music piano scene”. Performances with Grand Band in the upcoming season will include the Gilmore Piano Festival and Detroit Institute of the Arts.
While becoming increasingly active on an international level, Isabelle has continued to maintain strong ties with her native homeland. In 2012 she made five separate visits to Ireland for concerts and recordings, including performances with Crash ensemble, Ergodos musicians and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland.
